Warmer underfoot, smarter in layout — an older home refurbished into a boutique-style space in around four weeks.
Older houses have character to spare — and cold floors, dated decor and layouts that don't quite work to go with it. This refurbishment tackled all three: floors lifted and insulated, one oversized bedroom cleverly reshaped, and every finishing touch chosen to give the rooms a boutique-hotel feel.
Original cornicing and good proportions, but tired decor and draughty, uninsulated floors. Every floor was lifted and insulated between the joists before anything decorative happened — the invisible work that makes an old house feel warm for good. New windows went in at the same time.
The main bedroom was generous — more than it needed to be. A new stud wall took a slice of it to create a full walk-in wardrobe, without making the bedroom feel any smaller. The same phase framed out the feature wall that would become the headboard.
A bespoke fabric-panelled headboard wall with pendant lighting, mirrors made to fit the room, lit display niches and herringbone parquet flooring — high-street hotel style, built into an older home.
Inside the new wardrobe: custom cabinetry shelved and railed to suit its owners, behind mirrored doors that bounce light around the bedroom. The hallway got the same treatment — panelled walls, considered lighting and that parquet running throughout.
Insulation, layout tweaks and proper finishing can transform how an older home feels — often in a few weeks, not months. Tell us about your rooms and we'll suggest what's possible.
