Horizon Fife Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is a building company registered in Scotland (company number SC638179) with its registered office at 1 Reid Street, Lochgelly, Fife, KY5 9DL. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the data controller for personal data collected through this website, www.horizonfife.co.uk.
You can contact us about anything in this policy by emailing enquiries@horizonfife.co.uk, calling 07851 750234, or writing to the address above.
Information you give us. When you use our contact form or email or phone us, we collect the details you provide: your name, email address, phone number, the type of project you're enquiring about, your message, and — if your enquiry progresses — your property address and details relevant to quoting for and carrying out work.
Technical information collected automatically. Like almost every website, our hosting infrastructure records limited technical data when you visit — such as your IP address, browser type and pages requested — in server logs used for security and to keep the site working. We do not use analytics tools, advertising pixels or any marketing tracking on this website.
What we don't collect. This website has no user accounts, takes no payments, and does not knowingly collect data from children. We ask that you do not send us special category data (such as health information) unless it is genuinely relevant to your enquiry (for example, accessibility requirements for an adaptation project).
We use your personal data to: respond to your enquiry and provide quotes (lawful basis: steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract, Article 6(1)(b) UK GDPR); carry out and administer building work you engage us for (performance of a contract); keep records we are required to keep for tax, warranty, insurance and building-standards purposes (legal obligation, Article 6(1)(c)); and protect our website and business from fraud, spam and security threats (legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f)).
We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not send marketing emails or newsletters.
We never sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, and only to the extent needed:
IONOS SE — hosts our domain and email. Contact-form submissions are sent directly from our website to our own IONOS mailbox — no third-party form service is involved — and enquiries to our email addresses are processed and forwarded through IONOS systems.
Cloudflare, Inc. — hosts and serves this website and provides security services; Cloudflare processes visitors' IP addresses and technical request data to deliver pages and protect against attacks.
Google LLC (Google Fonts) — this site loads its typeface from Google Fonts; when pages load, your browser requests font files from Google's servers, which involves Google receiving your IP address. Google states these requests are not used for advertising profiles.
Trusted subcontractors — if we carry out work for you, the trades working on your project may need your name, address and access arrangements.
We may also disclose data where required by law, or to professional advisers and insurers where necessary.
Some of the providers above (Cloudflare, Google) may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, transfers are protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or International Data Transfer Agreements / standard contractual clauses.
Enquiries that don't lead to work are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted. Where we carry out work for you, we keep contract, quotation and project records (including project photographs) for as long as needed to meet our legal, tax, insurance, guarantee and building-standards obligations. Server and security logs are kept for short rolling periods by our hosting providers.
We photograph our projects before, during and after works for quality assurance, regulatory and insurance purposes. Where we would like to use photographs of your property in our portfolio (such as the project stories on this website), we will ask for your permission first. Photographs are chosen to avoid identifying details wherever possible, and we will remove a photograph of your property from our website if you ask us to.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; have inaccurate data rectified; have data erased in certain circumstances; restrict or object to processing based on legitimate interests; and receive data you provided to us in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 1 — we will respond within one month. There is normally no fee.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please contact us first and we'll do our best to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.
This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. For full details of the minimal storage we do use, see our Cookie Policy.
We'll update this page if our practices change, and update the "last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
